This week’s assignment in my EME 5050 class I was required to read chapter 5. Along with our reading I had to create a presentation on digital storytelling. In my reading I found out that digital media is the use of technology to communicate and express ideas. Digital storytelling is a digital explanation used to introduce concepts, and express ideas. While watching the Digital Storytelling in Plain English, I was thinking of ideas that I can create that I can use in my classroom. So for the digital storytelling presentation, I jotted down facts about penguins. I had already created a PowerPoint on penguins and thought my students would get a kick out of this new presentation. I have never used Prezi and I knew this could be a challenge. After watching the tutorial of Prezi and I realized that I can complete this assignment. If I can create a PowerPoint, I guess Prezi should be a piece of cake.
In the beginning of my presentation, I started of using a small amount of space. The further I got into my storytelling the more I found that I really needed to make use of the space. In the process, I decided to show the presentation and see how the text and pictures were lined up. I was even able to create a video form YouTube about penguins. I only wish that I could have used teachertube instead.
The only major problem that I had during this assignment was saving it to my USB. I would like to have a collection of my Prezi digital storytelling. Also, I need to have a copy for my portfolio at the end of the semester. Can anyone explain to me how to save a copy on my USB?
I plan on utilizing this software with my student. They may be second graders but I know they are capable of creating their own digital story.

ReplyDeleteInstructions for making a downloadable/off-line Prezi are available at the following site. Please note, though, that whether or not this will fit on your USB is dependent upon the capacity of the device and the size of your Prezi.

I thought your presentation was great, I loved the YouTube finish. Penguins are my favorite animal, but that had no bearing on how much I liked your presentation, well ok it did. I enjoyed the layout and the colors, I think made a theme of a cold tundra. I too was troubled with special issues. I think I spent more time with layout, changing sizes, then anything else. I view another Prezi, and it took a different approach. The main Idea and topics were so far away from each other that you were surprised each time a new idea was presented. It gave an element of surprise I wish I would have thought of it, I spent hours resizing and reorganizing.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure why it didn’t save to your USB. There must be some type of coding issue. I hadn’t tried it, but that is something to think about. How would students save it? I guess it is better for a classroom that uses a lab, as you don’t need 25 flash drives because it’s online. I’m thinking it must be meant for users only to have it on the Prezi site? Maybe some other Digital storytelling sites allow you to save, I don’t know?
